Niel Brooks is an award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, producer, and all around studio rat.
He performs and records as a soloist, as well as plays guitar and sings with Mourning Dove and Grupo Caudillos.
He listened to a large amount of singer/songwriters growing up. And also Jimmy Page, Fairport Convention, and his father’s collection of strange jazz records.
As of 2025, he has released five solo albums, one album with The Jaywalkers, one album with Mourning Dove, and one album with Grupo Caudillo. But he’s played on lots of studio sessions and even played guitar for a motel commercial.
Some of the artists he has worked with (performance and/or studio) include: Cass McCombs, Malcolm Holcombe, Alison Krauss, John Hiatt, Kaki King, Hurray for the Riff Raff, James McMurtry, Eric Taylor, Caitlin Cary, David Dondero, and Al DiMeola… which was totally bizarre and you should ask him to tell you that story.
